Zanzibar Insurance Corporation is a Government corporation established on June 20th, 1969 under the Office of the President Finance and Planning. The main purpose of the establishment of this organization is to provide quality insurance services to individuals, privates and government institutions in order to expand the business scope and nationwide. The main objective of the Corporation is to transact in all forms of non life insurance business as provided for under the Insurance Act (No. 10) of 2009. The Corporation operates its business through its Head Office in Zanzibar and its branches in Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, Arusha, Mbeya and Dodoma, its sales office in Chake Chake Pemba, Kijitonyama and Mtwara. The Corporation is an active member of various international bodies involved in the insurance business in the region; these include the African Insurance Organization (AIO), Organization of Eastern and Southern African Insurers (OESAI) and the Federation of African and Asian Insurers and Re-insurers (FAIR), Association of Tanzania Insurers (ATI) and the Institute of Insurance Tanzania (IIT).
